Also called optical calcite or Iceland spar, this inspiring crystal exhibits almost pure transparent clarity with some iridescent internal crystal plane reflection and double refraction with some slight rainbow or iridescent coloration. As it is clear, it appears clear to cloudy white, with some reflection and refraction of background color. It is very versatile and can be worn with any color of clothing. The natural crystalline state, and exposed surface crystal plate edges probably keep this piece in the artist and naturalist realm; a near perfect rhombohedral crystal shape may find appeal to a purist view.
